They’ve taught us to believe that what makes one camera better than another is the number of megapixels it has — when, in fact, the number of tiny colored dots making up a photo has very little to do with its color, clarity or even detail. Did you notice that the new Canon G11, announced yesterday, has FEWER megapixels than its predecessor the G10 had? The serious photographers, at least, have been pushing back against the Megapixel Myth for years.
