Went out to my aunt's and cooked breakfast for her. Then sat around and finished reading the NY Times and picked at the Sunday Stribune. I left about 1:00 and ran home to check e-mail before running over to Laura and David's for the Minicon meeting.
After pounding on the all first story windows at the house, I finally got somebody to unlock the front door. Note to self: do not put doorbell behind a locked screen door. A certain gentleman who shall remain nameless, locked the door after letting me in. This caused the next wave of arrivals to cluster at the door. Laura's kitchen has a freshly sanded and finshed floor. There was much oohing and aahing.
The meeting was quite fun. We did a lot of brainstorming and had some really interesting ideas. Minicon registration appears to be on a good curve. Chapbooks are in the works from the guests of honor, and much fuss was made about searching for a picture of one guest of honor having fun with a butter sculpture.
We came up with a three-prong reward systems for volunteers:
If you volunteer 8 hours or more, you don't have to take a T-Shirt.
If you volunteer 20 hours or more, you don't have to take a bottle of grenadine.
For hourly volunteer periods, we're going to offer badges, ribbons or tchotkes.
After the meeting, I drove back out to my aunt's to help get her to The Producers. I took her out the back in a wheel chair. I really hope she had fun.
