Even modern 2x10s are pretty scary. Real ones are quite remarkable. And a lot of houses had their second floors made with 2x8 joists, so it's good to have 2x10s.
I wonder how modern trusses with tongue-and-groove manufactured sheathing and glue will hold up for 100 years? It's pretty clearly "better" today than what we do with solid wood today, as well as cheaper (including installation), but there's still the question about the long run, generations of people hacking on it, etc.
Cameras are with Someone in Some Other Country. I took some with the phone, but they're not very good. Plus there's a certain lack o' light which may or may not be related to the total lack of light fixtures.
