Nope. I got multiple sets of brand new toner cartridges for mine online at Ebay at about 1/3 of the total cost of buying from a retail source. I love mt CL.
Many color laser printers are basically disposable items at this point. Last summer, I bought a new color laser printer with full-size cartridges for $200 less than replacement cartridges for my existing printer. Even if I stuck with the same brand and model, replacement cartridges were $160 more than a brand new printer...with full size cartridges. The very ones that cost $160 more if you bought them without the printer.
I've seen articles saying that some printers come with "starter" cartridges that are good for maybe 50 sheets of paper and then run out. Don't know if this is one of those, but that that price, I wouldn't be surprised.
