$39 MSP to Midway Yesterday

With the arrival of Southwest airlines, they put out a cheap fare between Mpls and Midway. It was $39 each way + $3.60 or so in taxes and fees. The fare ended last night. If you want to watch Southwest cheap fares, install Ding.

Leaving from the Humphrey (charter) Terminal is fun compared to the Lindberg (although the cruising people watching isn't nearly as good). Short to no lines, and a relaxed atmosphere. Of course, you can't toe tap at the Larry Craig Tearoom or shop at the Lindberg concourse. (On the other hand, I rarely go to the airport to shop.)

I've been looking forward to the arrival of Southwest for years. (My father kept asking me why I couldn't take Southwest when I quoted a too-high fare, and I kept explaining that we were the Northwest territory.)

Unfortunately, it didn't arrive in time for my trip to Los Angeles next month.

Just once, I got a $69 fare round trip MSP to MDW. It was worth taking the train from the airport to the Skokie Swift, though that took longer than the plane flight.
