Long national nightmare...
Jan. 20th, 2009 06:31 amI've lived through too many long, Republican national nightmares: Nixon, Ronnie RayGun, and now GWB. (The closest Democratic nightmare was Lyndon Johnson and his crown prince, the local court jester HHH, but the youth of that day and Richard Daley took him out.) Their evil lives on, surviving their reign and the interregnums, woven into the heart of a nation in the throes of Empire. Once we stood men on the moon, now we have become a banana republic, broken and destitute, depending on the pockets of strangers for our daily funding fix. We lay down with our former enemies, to borrow money from them so we can buy their lead-coated trinkets and plastic-tainted dog food and candy.
