Does "slightly younger" mean 101 years younger, or is the floor being replaced with old boards from another floor?
The thing that impresses me most about the whole watering can incident is how quickly you and your insurance company are dealing with it. I'm the sort who would still have missing walls, warped floors, and holes in my ceiling a year or two later. And it's not just my own procrastination -- it took something like 8 months for the stained and leaded glass windows to be replaced at Toad Hall. They were stolen the night before closing. The previous owners' insurance handled everything, and we simply lived in a house with storm windows and blank spaces until the glass artist finished all four of the new windows. The Realtors ended up escrowing funds out of their sales commission to keep the deal from falling apart, so it's not like there weren't concerned parties eager for their money.
You will be in no way surprised to hear that the finished windows cost nearly twice the amount escrowed. But the sellers' insurance handled everything and we didn't get screwed by the deal. Except for the 8 months of waiting, that is....

Date: 2009-01-13 12:22 am (UTC)I have felt like I've been procrastinating too long already, especially with a cranky, out-of-the-time-zone Asian in the house.
WoW.
