Woolworths announced last week that it was shutting down its 807 stores in Britain for good, with the last one to close on Jan. 5.

Woolworths was where I went when I lived in Australia. It had everything.

Damn. I remember Woolworth's on State Street in Chicago across from my office. You could get damned near anything in there; underwear, needles, light bulbs. I was so sad when it closed...

I remember the Woolworth's in Downtown Minneapolis. It was awesome, had everything, even a pet department. I still haven't gotten over it closing.

I remember Woolworths. There was one in the Big Town shopping mall in Mesquite when I was a kid. Later there was a Woolco, kind of like a Woolworths K-Mart.
