I used a credit card to make three calls from Hong Kong to Viet Nam. I was expecting to lose at least one arm and one leg:
$1.26
$1.26
$2.52

The Arthur C. Clarke book, however, cost $10.32

I'll have what you're having.

We had a call during the China crisis that cost all available limbs. 13 minutes of the most expensive per-minute call I've ever been part of.

Was claiming $4.95 per minute, but when I checked my account, there was less than $5.00 in international calls.

I think Dermot's got the right of it, and there will be more charges in the weeks to come.

Well, if you really want to pay some outrageous long-distance charges, I'll send you my phone bill from the month before Eric and I got Skype... there's a four-hour call on there that cost me something like $50.

My record is a call I made from Scotland to the US, and the US company billed 11 minutes as 77 minutes. (Handwritten bill at the time.) Lottsa US companies offer free night calls to the US & Canadia.
