One Body Short

The airline has been counting heads for half an hour before they came looking to the row for the man in the wheelchair -- the one that's in the hospital, who caused the medical emergency. Now we're waiting for custom forms, then wing de-icing. We've pretty much lost the Cathay Pacific flight.

Big mess. United, rather than let anyone go through customs was trying to get volunteers to stay behind. Not very good people skills. I got pretty cranky. Nothing much happened until after I got the comcorder out. Then they suddenly discovered they could do more. (Not that I can credit the camcorder, it may have been judicious timing.) They put us on Waitlist out of Hong Kong but then bumped us to business class, where I tried to drink them out of champagne and French red. We had almost no time between getting through security and on the plan for Sai Gon.
