I'm surprised that the scale has not worn out. There's the sound of lifting a suitcase and stepping on the scale. Repeat daily for, oh, six months or so.

Do you think the security people would freak if we tried to carry on the pipe wrench instead of checking it?

They wouldn't freak, they just wouldn't let you.

(For import purposes, bang it around a little before you take it; typically, duty on used tools is a lot lower.)

So is this a trip that you yourself are going on, to bring all this stuff?

Our older son made a similar trip a few years ago, helping his friend take an aged auntie and uncle and a large amount of luggage.
