I've seen this guy a lot on the TV these days. I don't watch TV. I try to avoid it, so seeing his face a lot for me, I take to mean he hasn't been off-camera since the election. Being a nutmegger, I've got a dim view of Governors. If this guy is the new face of the GOP, so be it, but I suspect he's only the new face-man of the GOP, and they will lose him the moment enough of them realize that Obama didn't get elected for being black. OTOH, they may never do that, and I'd rather see competent/evil than incompetent/evil over there on the other side, if only for my own ego (still sore from 8 years of the latter) and Jindal, FWIW, appears to be more in the former category. Bastard bears watching, if nothing else. Seems like that will be easy to do, given how much CNN seems to love him.

Is he black? I know nothing about him, but from his face and name I would have guessed a South Asian heritage.

Jindal, I believe is South Asian descent; I was unclearly referencing a right-wing meme that Obama's election stands on the color of his skin, rather than the substantive issue of him being way better than the other guy.
The cynical side of me believes that Republicans (now officially the White Southerner Party) are getting behind Jindal because they believe that meme, and Jindal just happens to be their young, ambitious, intelligent rising star with brown skin. That's a pretty fucked up thing to pin on anyone, though, even a republican.
