You always hear the words, but so rarely see the smoke.

I took my main desktop over to General Nanosystems tonight. They'd had it after I inadvertently didn't set the video card in correctly. When the motherboard started yelling about "No CPU" I panicked and took it in, which cost me $30.00 and they found that problem. When I brought it home, however, it wouldn't power up, and when it finally did, the fans appeared to have gone south, both in the power supply, and in the line that was just for fans. I put it back in the trunk of my car, and stopped there tonight. The tech guy was replacing the power supply, after he determined it would boot with a different one. He didn't get the connectors right on a card, and when he turned the computer on, smoke rose off the card. Hence, Smoke Test.

I left the computer. He's going to call me in the morning. It needs to be replaced anyway, but I keep hoping to postpone spending the money.

He did seem like he drank too much coffee.

Meanwhile on the homefront, somebody locked himself out of the house.
