The sound of people lying. It's all lies, all the time campaigning. How can everyone forget that between elections?

Platforms? Good for starting fires with.

Taxes? Healthcare? It's all magic money until and if they get elected.

If you think this is paradise, by all means, vote for St. John McSame. He'll keep digging for four more years.

If you want things need to change, vote for Barack Obama. You might even get some.

I think it's a *good* sign that people forget about political duplicity between election cycles. It's a demonstration of the persistence of hope against all odds. Which is such a human trait, and possibly the one that's kept us inching forward over the millennia.

What I don't like hearing are the quadrennial pledges by certain people to move to Canada (as if Canada were some sort of trouble-free nirvana) if the outcome isn't as they wish.

In 36 years of voting for presidents, my first, often passionate choice has never yet won. I'm not giving up. A wise woman with more years on the activist trail than I have once told me "Work for the world you want. Work with the world you have."

The nice thing about Obama is that he hasn't spent the last 30 years in bed with powerful interests that he's indebted to. His election was mostly due to his supporters, so he at least has the opportunity to make some changes. Assuming he's not co-opted by the DNC leadership that almost always turns good ideas into stupid.
