MINNESOTANS take pride in their humility, but make an exception when it comes to showing folks around. And they’re going to be very busy, what with the Republican hordes showing up from Sept. 1 to 4 to crown John McCain at the Xcel Energy Center. Be prepared for a profusion of hats, buttons and bad T-shirts, because worlds will be colliding as the Minnesota State Fair winds down and the convention takes over. There is a depth of cultural amenities to Minneapolis, and its not-so-twin city St. Paul, that will surprise a first-time visitor. And please remember, when they ask you at the coffee shop, “How you doing, today?” they really want to know. More
