I make a cold avocado soup that's very like that recipe - with the addition of a tablespoon of rum. The resulting soup doesn't taste of rum or alcohol at all; the liquor brings out a nutty flavor in the avocado that reminds me of pecans. But it's delicious (if very rich.)
