When I make sangria, it’s usually a hit-or-miss affair. I keep adding wine, brandy, fruit and soda to a pitcher until it tastes right. So it’s nice to have a recipe.

Right now is the best time to make the black cherry sangria to serve 6 or 7: a bottle of red wine, a cup of fresh orange juice, a cup of halved, pitted fresh cherries, 3/4 cup of black cherry syrup and 1/4 cup Grand Marnier.
