I think it both will and won't be. I think a Democract will win, and that will keep things from getting worse. But I don't think the next president, whoever she is, will dismantle the executive power grab that this one initiated.
If Hillary gets in, the scumbags in the Supreme Court are going to have hissfits, but if the Dems still control congress, they're going to have trouble doing anything. Rock, hard place...
I think a Democract will stop the doing, but what I want to see is undoing. For example, look at this. Let's say Bush establishes this, by executive order or something. I can easily imagine a Democractic president letting this one slide, but I have more trouble seeing that person undoing the institution. After all, it might be valuable someday.
That's my main worry about executive power. It lies there like a loaded gun, waiting to be used. Read this book; I'll lend it to you if you like.
That book is the most depressing political book I've read in years. He doesn't make the case that the American experiment in democracy has come to an end, but it's the logical conclusion after reading the book.
