A tall mushroom sprouted out of the grass in my yard last night. Half of the cap fell off too. I noticed it on my way back from Harriet Manor last night, but did not stop to look at it. It's about 10" tall.

From the other side with the remainder of the cap:

Three other caps emerging.

Doesn't look edible.

I'm not going to eat it, but the little ones look a bit like Shaggy Mane (Coprinus comatus). They're not all white though.

I would have guessed shaggy manes, too, although I have not seen those on the hoof, so to speak.

K. [did you guys eat my ground prunes last night?]

The cap dissolves the same way they describe it as well. Tall, tall mushroom. At last, one I can find! Especially when it pops up outside my door and sticks up six inches above the grass.

MizzLauraJean sent some home with us. We had them with ricotta ravioli, onion, garlic, pine nuts, olive oil & a bit o' sea salt. Yummy!

It's most likely a shaggy mane. Since you can't consume these within 24 hours of an alcoholic beverage, I find them useless.

No wine with my mushrooms? Gedouddahere!
