Awesome busy weekend. lollardfishlollardfish and buttonlassbuttonlass all day party on Saturday, one location being much easier to find than the other, birthday party on Sunday, followed by cocktails with Kelly at the Saloon, and a play read in the Fresh Ink series at the Illusion Theater. I skipped out on the Bull Durham viewing yesterday.

Early Saturday morning I picked out a new set for the deck at Chez Dinh, but forgetting my "proof of insurance," their trucks were rented by the time I returned avec proof. (No doubt abetted by my stopping at the French Meadow for a large supply of bread -- da bums wuz outta Levain at 8:00 in the morning! I had Thong pick some up while I was whirling and chopping.) Shortly afterwards began the great liver searing and bean boiling, cooling, chopping and whirling that goes into producing bean and liver patés for the frolicking parties that would follow. I packed the patés in bowls of ice inside my IKEA meatball bag, the bread in a brown bag, and set out in a loong search for the secret day time party location complicated by an inability to connect to LJ and the fact that somebody in the house threw out the invitation and the map. After multiple false leads and numerous phone conversations with mizzlaurajeanmizzlaurajean, I arrived around 2:30 with patés and bread for a picnic that was moving into the cake stage. Le sigh. Still, much fun, music and another perfect day.

I whipped home, with the top down, of course, around 7:00 and paused to surf, shower and throw the second dishes of bean and liver patés into a bag with the bread, now three, count 'em, three loaves over to Harriet Manor for the evening soire. It was another great party, with wonderful weather. We sat out in the back yard way into the balmy night and marveled at the lack of biting insects. I wandered home around 12:30, although the party continued into the wee hours.

Sunday morning found me back at HomoDepot with proof of insurance where two burly men loaded the truck and off I sped. When I called from 24th and Lyndale to make sure Thong was around to help unload the truck, he told me that the guy next door had offered to use his pickup for the transport. Le $20 + $8.00 gas sigh. Anyway, we unloaded the haul and moved it to the back yard. I took the truck back to HomoDepot, picked up a gift card at Barnes & Nobles, and returned to start assembling the furniture. After a few false leads, I'd gotten a table and glider assembled, when I had to run inside, boil more beans, whirl 'em, and head off for the birthday celebration, where I arrived late, but they gobbled the pate anyway.

On my way back home around three, Kelly called to say he was by Calhoun Square -- Odd, I said, so am I as I drove past on my way home. After a brief return home to dump an empty bowl, I picked him up at Knox and 31, and despite our failed attempt at locating the sand castles -- stupid Aquatennial traffic would not get out of my way no matter how much I blew the horn -- we adjourned to the Saloon for beverages and search of open air. After their patio turned out to be smog heaven, we sat in the bar, and after which I took him back to his car and returned to that pesky furniture. Thong had started on the big table, when Kelly called to retrieve his cell phone and wallet left the TT's glove box, which I'm sure had nothing to do with the cocktails...

Then he sat a while in the glider, while we screwed screws and played construction gang, heading back out to the Eagle whilst I went in search of parking for the Illusion.

This coming weekend is again busy with my sister, cousin and a friend in town. They're camping out at a hotel, but this mad social whirl seems to be tying up my summer. So glad I killed the cable and cut NetFlix down to almost zip.

My best line, delivered at the birthday party:
Q: "What's in it?"
A: "Fava Beans"
Q: "What makes it green?"
A: "Fava Beans"
