In a Newsweek article about brains, Sharon Begley says that researches claim we have two visual sites in the brain. One is in the reptilian area cut off from consciousness, and the other is the one we use to see. If the center we use to see gets damaged, vision can be lost, but the reptilian center can still use the eyes to perform actions like catching things. More
