Pears...

Last night I cooked off most of what remained from a large sack of pears Thong got. They wuz local, and small. I'd seen a show where they duped a restaurant dessert and made it simpler. The complicated dessert was a fried pear with caramel sauce. The simpler way to cook it was to start the caramel and add the pears in the pan with the sugar, which I did. I stuck a cover on for a few minutes to speed up the cooking. Although my sugar started to go dark a bit early... I then dumped in a pint of cream, removed the pears to a platter, and cooked down the cream. The caramel sauce was quite luscious. The last three half pears made it back, but after putting them in a dish to go into the fridge, I scarfed them down. My pears didn't brown quite as much as the ones on the show, and they were small, but they tasted quite fine. We had some really nice sorbet and fresh fruit to go along side... It was a really great time.

Y'know, anytime you want to auction off your services as a chef for some worthy cause, I hope you'll let me know, because I sure would bid.

Aahhhhhh

Yummmmm....

Any chance of a repeat come a certain upcoming Halloween party? I'd love to compare the flavor through the electrons with the real thing.

You are a bad man Mr. Sanderson. I found pears on sale when I went grocery shopping today. Guess what I'm making for dessert? Did you add any spices to it?

NaCl

Turned out nummy, but I think I wish I'd used castor sugar to smooth out the caramel sauce a bit.
