I just saw this recipe for Cinnamon Buns linked to on Food Porn, and the recipe suggests subbing cardamom for the cinnamon... hmmm. Now who do I know that bakes? ;-)

Isn't the question more who do you know locally who bakes? If I were to whip up a batch of these things, well, your experience would be strictly vicarious. And they're the sort of thing that require such freshness that I won't be making them for the Tiptree Bake Sale at WisCon, alas.

Lately, I've been subbing garam masala for cinnamon in sweet dishes. It's amazing.

Throw in a pinch of allspice, or leave it out, and you would not have to force me to eat it. Well, hardly at all...

I have to confess I looked up a recipe for garam masala. I usually throw my own sweet spices together, tending toward cinnamon, allspice, black pepper, clove and nutmeg.

Er, yes.

Wouldn't it be simpler for you to learn how to bake? It would seem that you can follow a recipe, and it's not exactly rocket science.

(OTOH, there are advantages to that strategy. A former housemate used to be quite skinny. He explained that he gained weight after a) he discovered cheesecake and b) he learned how to make it himself.)
