lsandersonI like to go grocery shopping with Thong because, besides being a neatnick, he's superb at packing groceries. (I'm not.)
While we were packing up the cart, an elderly woman was futzing with hers, with a very young boy sitting in the cart. I'm usually in a daze when I'm in a grocery store, but it seemed the woman needed some help. About the time we had filled the cart and were turning to leave, she asked for it. The cashier, who had seemed oblivious, intercepted the request and called on the PA for assistance and slightly berated the woman for asking us (They're customers) for help. Rather than helping her, we left confidant that the store would provide. I suppose we could easily have helped and left the store feeling all Xmasy, or gotten trapped driving her to her house and helping with the grocieries, but we just left. Do I get half a point for noticing that she needed help?
