100 Notable Books of the Year

The Book Review has selected this list from books reviewed since the Holiday Books issue of Dec. 5, 2004.

Although, I'd hafta say it's kinda light on Science Fiction...

I went through this list and found that a third of them were of any interest to me, almost all of them nonfiction.

In the non-fiction list, I've read Collapse, Garbage Land, 1491, Freakonomics, and The World is Flat. I recommend them all.

Today's Globe and Mail did something similar, and they were also light on science fiction. In fact, they had no genre fiction at all. I'm thinking about writing to their Books editor and complaining about the utter lack of coverage of genre fiction.

The weird thing is, Spider Robinson used to write an op-ed column for them.
