Last night, at Fire and Ice
Oct. 31st, 2005 09:34 amLast night, massive quantities of food was flambed at
lee_os and
hunnythistle's.
The fire startted with Greek cheese, which got the torch just as I arrived late. And, I had to catch up on the smoked salmon, one with ice wine. Then, in order to put out the fire, we ate some sorbet. Then the dressing for spinach salad hit the flames, and then we skipped the torch for my white and green asparagus, which all vanished. Lee brough back another bunch of Chanterelles from Seattle, and they got torched in a cream sauce. Mel made duck soup, which burned with the addition of a little brandy, and then we went on to a double flambe feature,
Minnehaha K made a steak, vegie and plantain dish which was flambed with rum, and I torched a plate of squash, with smoky bacon, lemon thyme, rooster sauce, and maple syrup with scotch. The squash did not all disappear, alas, but I managed to pawn it off before I left. Then cheese (without flame), followed by Bananas Foster, with fire and ice cream.
There was, of course, a wine to every course, and several sorbets that I'm missing. One lime, ginger and mango. One with an African liquor.
I'll be posting pictures shortly.
