Jan. 31st, 2005 07:11 amAnother month shot to hell.
Last night,
Daedala asked if I was interested in dinner, and so eventually five of us (
David,
Laura Jean, and
one of Minnehaha) ended up at the Bakery on Grand. And, grand it was. They had a fixed price menu for Sunday night and the only problem was deciding what to have rather than what not to have. The four of us drank two bottles of wine, and the five of us ate some really good food. The duck pate was incredible (although I only tasted it). I did fish, salmon rilletes and bouillabaisse. Duck confit and a french beef stew in homage to Catalonia made up the other two main courses. Appetizers wuz the duck pate, the salmon rilletes, and brie. Firsts were fennel and grapefruit (which I had) and a blue cheese salad. The cost was $28. The restaurant was not packed, and had the waitress not rushed the second course, it would have almost been perfect. Somebody at the table had to have dessert, and we picked two, a dacquoise and a chocolate genoise jelly roll. They were both wonderful. Rachael ate about half the daquoise... I think she liked it. They were all very European, and quite excellent.
