Spent the weekend in Fargo with my sister Karen, her husband Scott, my cousin Myra, and a friend of her's, Judy. Karen, Scott & Judy were celebrating birthdays.

We hit Sarello's in Moorhead (Friday nite), Monte's in Fargo (Saturday nite with Sam & Andrea), the HoDo in Fargo Saturday lunch with Andrea), and since we could not fit back in the HoDo on Saturday night for drinks, the Old Broadway (Scott, Karen, Judy, Myra, Larry, Sam, Andrea, Kevin, Jon & Linda?).

Saw Sam & Andrea, Kevin, and Jon -- a guy who was involved in politics when I wuz in college -- and his wife.

Downtown Fargo had some life in it as I walked back to my car from Old Broadway on Saturday night. The HoDo was packed. The dance part of Old Broadway appeared packed, but we sat in the bar section and talked politics from 9:30 to almost midnight.

Great Plains money seems to be working some miracles in Fargo. It's a little different than the Fargo I remembered. Lots more track lighting, for one thing...

Sunday, after brunch, we went out to my sister's lake cabin on one of the Cormorant lakes east of Fargo. I left from there on Sunday and drove back to the cities.

We only made one batch of ice cream with the new freezer my cousin and I got my sister for her birthday. We cheated, used a custard, but poured it in hot. Shoulda cooled it off. Still, it was ice cream, which proved the compressor compressed and the paddle turned. We did put it in the garage because of the noise. (The compressor is quiet, but the paddle motor makes a bit of racket.)
