Two days or so now the pseudo-child has been gone. His things suddenly leaving more quickly than he arrived. There's a chair and a lamp still sitting in the entry. Chords of comments from Thong that have barely filtered into my congested head. No furniture broken this round. That's always a good thing in my book, but I hope he's doing well. I'm still amazed that the two of them made their way together out of Vietnam to Thailand and to here, neither killing the other. Thi used to show up on the porch from time to time. Short, muscular, a walking ad for Hilfiger and Polo. We moved him suddenly late one night from a house on Nicollet & 24th. Filling my small car with mountains of things. Back and forth, until he was all ferried over, and given a bedroom. He stayed here for his last year and more of high-school. I was at his graduation. Thong was not interested. They fought most of the time. I'm not sure either knew I was there. I took the afternoon off when he was sworn in as an American citizen, at the Federal Court House across from City Hall. Mostly it was sit and wait, with him in the court, and the visitors sitting outside. Then they let us all in, with some speeches, photo ops with the judge, small American flags. I've got parts of it taped here somewhere, and I should transfer it to CD.
