BUSH THE MULTILATERALIST....Speaking on Irish TV last night, President Bush displayed his usual keen grasp of foreign public opinion:

President Bush suggested last night that there were not major differences between the US and Europe over Iraq, but just with France.

France had opposed the US position but "most of Europe supported the decision on Iraq. Most European countries are very supportive and are participating in the reconstruction of Iraq".

Hmmm. I guess that depends on the meanings of "most," "very supportive," and "participating." I wonder which meanings he was thinking of?

He looks positively demented these days. When everybody was accusing Clinton of "losing it" for telling a few home truths to the BBC, I was watching a "Daily Show" clip of Bush saying, "Abu Ga-REFF ... [long pause, intensely furious panicked flustered expression, twitches, one wild glance outwards] ... situation." If I had to choose to say who's losing it, it wouldn't be Clinton.

And Cheney is also losing it--cursing out the opposition, sounding positively demented, making obvious and silly lies. It's great to watch this Administration twist in the wind, but don't think for a minute that this election won't be a battle to the end.
