The Princes of Serendip?
Aug. 15th, 2019 06:26 amSam and his girlfriend, (new) Andrea, visited Monday and Tuesday, after Andrea's checkup at the U of M. We sat up late Monday after going out to eat and bouncing off the Uptown Korean restaurant and ending up at a Thai place in Calhoun Square. Tuesday, we sat around talking, and decided to do one outing before they ran back to Ada. Ikea seemed too much for Sam, so we went to Ingebresen's instead. Once there, Sam bought some rullepølse and cheese. Andrea looked for Icelandic tat, but found little. We departed and decided to pick up some rye bread. Rather than hit the French Meadow, Lunds, or Cub, we wandered north to Kramarczuk's, where I thought they had it, and to Surdyk's just down the street if they did not. Kramarczuk's had a caraway rye and a pumpernickel, so we got the caraway rye and I got half-pints of their two potato salads. There, sitting in plain sight, were two bars of Icelandic chocolate. One plain dark chocolate and the other dark with sea salt. Andrea was rather excited, and bought the sea salt chocolate bar (and posted on Facebook about it). She talked to the manager about it, he said despite his misgivings buying it, it was selling like hotcakes. Anyway, when we got home, we made sandwiches with mustards, no mayo since I seem to be out, lettuce, cheese, rullepølse, and the caraway rye. Afterwards, the chocolate did not disappoint.
