When It Comes to Voting, Minnesota Makes It Easy


Hillary Clinton and Donald J. Trump are waging an all-out effort to get supporters to the polls in swing states like North Carolina and Nevada. But there is one place where voters seem to need no encouragement: Minnesota.
For the last nine presidential elections the state has been No. 1 in voter turnout, according to statistics compiled by Michael McDonald, a political scientist at the University of Florida. In the last three elections, Minnesota was the only state in which more than 76 percent of eligible voters cast ballots.
