Wizard Night

Last night we played Wizard. I dealt myself the bestest Wizard hand ever! A K of trump, two Wizards, and two Jacks on the six-card hand. Last to bid, I shocked everyone by bidding four. (We were way overbid.) Two wizards took the first two tricks and then I laid mine down. I won that game, then got creamed in the next one. It was a fun night. Food and friends did not hurt either.

I made two, count 'em, two hummus-like dips. One with chickpeas, Thai red curry paste, coconut milk, and garlic and another with white kidney beans, garlic chive 'scapes,' lemon, garlic, and olive oil. They were both good. I also had pita bread, broad beans, green beans, baby peppers, carrots, celery, pea pods, and red and white radishes to go with it. I needed another hundred people or so to eat it. I also found the .99 cent cans of Thai curry paste at the Asian store. Who knew?

The deck with the pretty art that uses "N" for Jesters and "Z" for Wizards? It's a very attractive deck, and it's cool that the cards make a landscape picture, but yeah, there's always a bit of confusion with the sideways letters.

No, this is the deck where spades are black, hearts are red, diamonds are purple, and clubs are green. It's all rather more off-putting than one might expect.
