I understand that some people are upset about two things in the Hunger Games:

  • The main actress, Jennifer Lawrence, who also stared in Winter's Bone, ain't young enough

  • Rue ain't white

OK, OK, I'm not even going to go into the supposed fact that she's taller than her blond boi bestest love interest in the movie, because, I mean, can you even like imagine? I guess that must be on account of because it's so hard to get orange crates these days, and what with union labor and all, it's a big to do to get a hole dug on a set. As for the age thing, I mean I haz seen this coming ever since The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis and the hubris o' movie and TV executives making these clean-cut virginal gurls look like women with big tits, I mean for shame! If they can't find nice, young virginal gurls, they oughtta think about doing wot that ole English writer, Shakespeare done and substitute good looking young men -- at least then we wouldn't hafta be distracted by the rack on such a pretty young thing.

Now, I can understand it's shocking when you come to a heart-tugging moment in a film and you suddenly realize that your heart is getting tugged over the death o' a black gurl, that it can be a real shock! I mean, who knew? Right? When you read the book -- you did read the book? -- I mean, whodathunkit? Black! Well, if that just don't beat all. I mean, it makes you think, what kinda colored wild flowers did Katniss Everdeen cover her body in so as, you know, not to clash with the dark skin? Ittsa important question, and since I ain't seen the movie yet, I still gotta wonder about that. It ain't like gold eye shadow on no man. No siree.
