May. 26th, 2003 08:42 amWhy, oh, why am I not at Wiscon?
Yesterday, my cousin called from the hotel around 11:00. We were supposed to be at my aunt's by 12:00 with picnic food. Master plan was sandwiches. My master plan was to buy the sandwiches at a Vietnamese deli or restaurant. When they got here, we ran up to the Saigon Deli for a bunch of banh mi. We also grabbed a bunch of spring rolls. They also picked up a bunch of assorted desserts. Adding things on to the sandwiches meant we needed paper plates and silverware, so we ran back to my house for some silverware, and ran to Lunds for something to drink. While at Lunds, I had to buy some potato salad; we also bought a ton o' olives; and Solo plastic plates (I was out). We made it out to Sandy's about an hour late but with tons of food and soda. The central courtyard at Jones-Harrison was packed with other picnickers, so we ate out on the patio off the assisted living dining room on the north side of the building. Cedar Lake sits off through the trees, and the weather was gorgeous. My cousin and I were the only ones who appreciated the jalapeno in the banh mi. After we ate, we sat around in the sun and read the Sunday papers. My sister and my cousin polished my aunt's fingernails. My sister and I drove back my house to pick up the laundry for my aunt. When we got back, we went up to her room for a bit and then went down to have dinner in their private dining room. We left about 8:45.
