Thong called from the airport while I was at work. I think they're both excited. The morning before they left, Thong was explaining the intricacies of traveling in and out of Vietnam. How you always put a $5 bill in the passport. What happens if you don't put money in the passport -- how you tend to miss planes.

My experiments to print the Minicon program book off a print resolution pdf at work failed yesterday. The printing time from the pdf is just too long. I think, but do not know, that the pdf prints most of itself as an image. It sure brings a 38 page per minute printer down to a slow crawl.

I tried the HP PCL6 driver, the HP PostScript driver, and the Adobe PostScript driver. I tried dpi between 1200 and 300. The slowest was around 30 minutes and the fastest was around 15. I think if I printed from the source that it would be quicker, but that could be a pipe dream (and a big pipe dream given the cost of InDesign). It looks as if we're back to the copy-printer and collatio.

If borrowing a Windows copy of InDesign 2.0 would help, I can offer that.

You probably forgot to put a $5 bill in with your print job.

I don't even think a $50 would have helped.

Thanks, but I think we've dropped back to the copy-printer and collatio.
