Casper?

So, yesterday I saw Casper the friendly ghost in the mirror in my eye, like an errant contact lens or a bit of cloudy quicksilver moving hither and yon as quicksilver is wont. I tried to grab him with a pair of tweezers,  but instantly realized Casper was not being moved that way.

I called my clinic. What can I call Casper? I thought, blob! I said I had a blob in my left eye. "A blob?" she asked. "Yes, like Casper the Ghost." I wished I'd answered, but I just said "Yes." I described it the same way to the nurse, in the instant appointment I acquired at my local clinic. "Can you be there by 3?" She'd asked at 2:50. "Why yes, I think I can," I answered running out the door.

The doctor looked at Casper as I looked to the side and up and down to show him off properly. Then he left and brought in an eye doctor where I once again moved my eyes to show off Casper's tricks. The eye doctor agreed with the family doctor that Casper was a conjunctival cyst and should be left alone to go away on his own. But he gave me a prescription for antihistamine eye drops to feed Casper one drop a day to encourage him to leave.

The doctor said to pick up the prescription at the clinic pharmacy (after he checked to see what they had) and make an appointment next week to see the eye doctor. After making the appointment for what I thought was next Monday, but which in fact was the Monday after that when I'll be far, far away.oh, and why did I forget to ask if Casper was good to fly? Of course, the doctor sent the prescription to my mail-order pharmacy, not the clinic pharmacy, who called later to ask about the $38.95 charge because it wasn't coveted by insurance, but don't get me started about them. Anyway, back at the clinic, I asked about the prescription, and eventually ended up with the antihistamine eye drops for $38.95. After one application, they have not driven Casper away. Are exorcism priests hard to come by these days?
