St. Pats

My St. Pat's day was bound entirely by the weekend. Saturday, I shopped for the Wizard game.

I stopped at the local (Lake Street) cheese store for Sage Darby, and they had none. I wandered through the liquor store, saw Guinness on sale, but bought none.

I went to Lunds, where they were pushing a host of Irish cheese, and, oddly enough, Sage Darby. All in rather large chunks for the four forecasted Wizard players, but I through three chunks, Sage Darby, Cashel Blue, and a cheddar with Irish Whiskey, because wot the hell isn't wrong with Irish Whiskey? They also had corned beef on sale at Lunds -- I guess somebody told them St. Patrick's day was coming -- but I got waylaid by a sample of corned beef and cabbage, and forgot about it. I did remember the bright green picholine olives, and, I think, a baguette o' bread.

The next stop was Bill's Imported Foods on Lake Street. I'd looked at their dried veggies before, but was dreaming shades of green, and they had dried green beans (quite good) and fried peas (green, but not as good), and I picked up a bag of each. I passed on the dried okra. I bought a bunch of green olives, and one bag of ripe, then wandered around for a bit to wait for the line at the register to go down -- I have never seen as many people trying to check out at Bill's before. I don't know why so many people were shopping at a Greek grocery store before an Irish saint's day...

After I got home and unpacked, I recognized the lack o' corned beef, so back to Lunds I went for corned beef and a mustard or two. (I kicked myself later, because both the corned beef and the Pastrami were on sale, and I coulda gotten a half pound o' each.)

I threw in some mixed nuts, various crackers and mustards from the pantry, assorted lettuce from the fridge, and it was a complete no cook spread, mostly green, except where it wasn't. The two bags o' tater chips I'd scrounged from Lunds with their free coupons also got tossed into the mix. All in all, not bad for a 1% Irish.

I still have to unpack the upstairs upstairs fridge and unload the upstairs upstairs dishwasher.
