Too Cheeep!
Sep. 15th, 2013 12:24 pmThere I am at the Electric Fetus garage sale, skipping the $2 CD bins with some Kathleen Battle CDs and various other "treasures" when everything is half off. Still, blew over $5 on the .50, $1, & $1.50 bins. The guy ahead of me hit $400. He had a pile.

Haz become my salad vendor o' choice now that the growing seasons grows to a close. His truck pulled in to the Farmer's Market around ten again today. No lines, but I wandered off and came back after they set up. His greens are $1 a bunch. Leaf lettuce, arugula, baby romaine, mizuna, and one or two I did not recognize on the greens section. Bok choi and other stuff on the cooking end. His radishes looked too big though. And no Roma beans. No oak leaf or baby Boston either. Earlier, I bought mostly baskets with red and green leaf lettuce, but his counter has a much wider variety o' greens. They make it about a week in the fridge, while the washed stuff I was buying at Lunds makes it about three days.
At one of the apple vendors, I asked for and got a mixed bag of apples. Someone is not impressed, but I've got a bunch of different locals, around two each. Bought a couple of small squash and a small watermelon that Somebody was quite upset about. I guess growing up raising watermelon gives you a different take on 'em.
