Small Video Card Funeral
Mar. 25th, 2013 09:27 pmMy video card fan goes round and round no more. It looked as if there were armies of ants crawling across my screen.
I took it out and dug in my closet until I found the el cheapo emergency video card replacement unit.
Last night I kicked myself for not clicking the Buy button on a rather high end AMD video card that was on sale at Newegg.com.
It's not that the death is unexpected. The fan has been sounding wobbly for quite some time now. I just kept hoping it would heal itself.
Alas, it has not. FrozenCPU has video card fans, one even looks as if it will fit, but the card is old. The new card is newer but much slower. It will have to do until the replacement arrives.
I don't game, but the marching ants and flickering made it quite impossible to use.
It will be a small affair.
I just turned the case fans down. It no longer sounds like a wind tunnel.
