A Better Way to Vote

For some reason, I always have trouble with "Voting should be a two day event on the weekend where everybody gets the days off." Sounds good, yet I always have to ask when was the last time they pulled their head out of their ass?

Or why a Republican lawyer would make a case for bi-partisanship and then spout Republican ideas?

All elections should be run by professionals... let's think about this. How often do we have elections? How much are we going to pay professionals for a job that's performed twice every two years on average?

More better machines? I'm going to guess these guys have never tried to help an elderly couple that can't read or understand English vote. Saying everybody's got to understand English is a nice statement quite similar to saying "It can't rain on my picnic day."

Late autumn always feels folksy to me, if not downright pagan. Halloween has something to do with it, sure, but it goes deeper than that: it’s all dead leaves, fast-darkening skies, surges of wind and lashings of rain. The season sounds like Sandy Denny singing spooky old ballads about changelings, betrayal and revenge. It smells like damp firewood slowly drying. (No wonder I want to stay under the blankets reading Frost and Yeats.) And late fall definitely tastes like apples. Moar
