I went out and saw Thor at the IMAX 3-D early on Saturday. It was the geek showing, and not very full. (This was after watching it via a Vietnamese server with bad image and rotten sound and Vietnamese subtitles).

I liked it. Great mindless action. Hot Thor. Loki's not bad either. Nice special effects. Reinforces Scandihoovian roots. The film lacks the fashion designer's sense from "The Incredibles," but it's from the Germanic mold, not the sardonic one. I may have to start sitting further back at IMAX theaters.

It's always tickled me that the Scandihoovian's myths include the downfall of the gods, but that time is not yet upon us.

There wuz a bitta carping about Heimdall, "the whitest of the gods," being done by Idris Elba, but he's in such military drag, who cares? Yet I guess the Asian side-kick didn't bother them much.. Odd, that.

Chris Hemsworth is perfect as Thor... Anthony Hopkins plays Anthony Hopkins and gets to pontificate a lot. Rene Russo plays Frigga -- no snickering allowed. Lottsa gold, armor, capes, and women that kind of bleed into the background. Natalie Portman plays the love interest, Kat Dennings plays the intern, and Jaimie Alexander plays the female side-kick.
