I skipped the Oscars last night, keeping half an eye on the NYT blog feed and head count. I had not seen True Grit or The Fighter, or Toy Story 3 for that matter, but had a pretty solid sense of the major Oscars (19 out of 24 on the last NYT ballot I filled out at the NY Times, and had I been more consistent, I would have had one more... Missed Film Editing, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, Sound Mixing, Short Film, Animated -- which is the one I had marked right previously) The Academy always falls for a well-done speech impediment, and if it's got good hats, even better. CW was pretty good this year, plus a few lucky guesses on the minor Oscars.
