Went wonky the other day. Yes, I know it's a technical description unfamiliar to you that do not work in the high tech industry, but I'm sticking to it. First I thought I'd blew a fuse. I've done that before, sometimes even ones I can reset in the basement. But when I went to the basement, there wuz no blown fuse, or circuit breaker if you want to get technical. In a day or two, I noticed that it had not healed itself, so off to Google I went to see if there was a Miele repair place here in Our Fair Cites. There wuz, with one branch in That Other Country and one in the Wilds O' Richfield. This morning, my agenda included going off to the Farmer's Market for some variegated lemon thyme, and then find my passport, put the silver moon in the trunk of my babyTM silver and head out of That Other Country. Meanwhile, somebody popped a chicken into the oven. Chicken lunch, Farmer's Market, or working vacuum cleaner? It's just not fair when life hands you difficult decisions like that on a nice Saturday morning. I threw the silver moon into the trunk and drove like a mad man for St. Paul, ran into the vacuum repair place, expecting the drop off the cleaner and retrieve it in, oh, say a month or so. But, it was not to be. While I waited, they guy tore apart the casing, and put in a new power cord. Then he charged me enough to support a small Central American country for a week or two, and I drove like a madman back to Mpls. Fortunately, the lines at the border weren't that long and the chicken was still steaming when I got home.

It's amazing how much better a vacuum works when you can turn it on. Dragging it around when it wasn't working just didn't do much for the floors.
