Clinton campaign wants Texas to postpone party conventions

03/15/2008

By PAUL J. WEBER / Associated Press

As final results from the Texas Democratic caucus remain unknown, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign wants signatures from the March 4 contest verified before party conventions are held around the state later this month. More

I don't know how well the Texas Democratic party handled their caucus, but if my local caucus was any guide, anyone that thinks they can verify the signatures of the 900 people that signed in mostly on ripped-out spiral notebook pages, has a full time job ahead of them. Anybody that thinks I or the other (mostly Obama campaigners) checked signatures, needs to get a grip on reality. Anybody that could read the 8.5X 11 precinct map of the area that we had at the table got an award anyway. Hint to Mrs. Clinton: It's not an election... it's a caucus. Get over it.

"Another was Andrew Johnson, whose tenure went from bad (he was red-faced, incoherent and probably drunk when he took the vice presidential oath) to worse (after succeeding Abraham Lincoln, he was impeached)." More

Meanwhile, in Iowa Saturday, Clinton lost a delegate while Obama picked up nine of them in the state's county conventions. In Oregon, the state AFSCME broke with the national organization (which endorsed Clinton) and endorsed Obama for its primary. The party's activists continue to move in large numbers toward Obama while Nancy Pelosi has essentially cast her lot with Obama. Clinton supporters are increasingly paranoid as the walls close in on their candidate's campaign, but it's essentially over. They may rail against Pelosi, or the media, or Howard Dean, or Keith Olbermann, or Daily Kos, or whatever and whoever. But what they are seeing is a consolidation of the party around the primary's winner, and that is already Barack Obama whether the Clinton campaign and her shrinking number of supporters wants to acknowledge it or not.
