Fastest DL Evah!

I've needed to renew my driver's license for quite some time, but have been avoiding it, hoping it might go away. Well, it would, the license anyway on my birthday. Yesterday I took a late lunch and ran to the Edina Hennepin County Service Center. It's a big square room ringed be clerky type civil servants, with chairs and writing areas with a central play area for kids and monitors that flash the number of who's being served. The gate keeper/receptionist funnels everyone to make sure they've got what they need to get in and the paper work they need to fill out. When I checked in, she gave me a sheet to fill out, and said to go to the window when my number was called, regardless of whether the sheet was done. I about got to the writing tables when my number was called. So, I went to the window, filled out the form, had my picture taken, and left the building in about five minutes.

My day

My master plans to visit the MIA evaporated, as did my my plans for Blade Runner -- The Almost Absolutely and Positively Final Milking of One Film...

Ditto on the Holiday cards that are sitting by my desk. My desultory attempt to boot the spare computer met with inconclusive results, and after a few boots but no OS load, a strange series of error beeps and ululations.

I've also avoided ripping the rounded aspen for the upstairs window. I keep hoping a table saw will suddenly appear. My skills with a skill saw involve cutting no straight lines...

I did unplug the newest dead drive in this, my main computer. It throws the motherboard into a tizzy when a drive fails. I'm reminded of travels in Bellona when I can't remember what I had stored on the drive, when it was live, or if it's a cast off from the RAID. Disconnected is so much better than dead and connected.
