It's always nice when your faith's rewarded. I switched phone services, and I had faith that Qwest would screw it up. Not only that, but they make you listen to two recordings of "Did you know that most internet connection problems can be solved by turning off your modem..." I wonder if shoving it up the ass of the rwits from Qwest might not be more efficacious?

Decided I really wanted MSN as my ISP despite my three statements to the contrary. Too bad the poor tech in India didn't figure that out last night.

Last nite, when I should have been using foul language on Qwests "technical support," I instead attended a sneak preview of the warhorse vehicle, Evening. Saddly, the theater did not fill up before we got seated. Also saddly, we missed the directors spiel after the movie because we were running for the exits to hurl. Sun, sea, pretty people, a dying Vanessa Redgrave and fantasy sequences worthy of Lifetime. Little plot, less pacing, and, other than the stellar cast, not much of any interest.

But I am also a prodigious computer user, and it looks as if that makes me an energy hog. I started checking how much electricity my electronics were consuming when I wasn’t using them. I used a Kill A Watt EZ energy meter (available online for about $25) and began measuring. My PC was continuously drawing 134 watts all night. More
