I wuz invited to
lee_os and
hunnythistle's on Friday and asked what I could bring. I went shopping the night before for something to hit me, and the only thing that jumped out was rhubarb. So, I got a bunch and a pint of whipping cream and announced I was bringing a fool. (Besides myself, for those of you who have grown confused.)
Often having been a fool, but never having made one, I invoked the great ghod Google, and came up with several recipes, the shakiest of which I followed, which included a note that it had been converted from metric but untested... There was one recipe from the BBC, that involved macadamia nuts and all sorts of other things... The one I followed had orange juice and rind, but I subed some OJ & Grand Marnier. I cooked the rhubarb with some sugar, OJ & GM, then tossed in a bit of vanilla at the end. I whipped the cream with sugar and GM between courses, and folded in the rhubarb, and stacked it up in pilsner glasses. I thought it quite fine. Now if only I had grown the rhubarb.
