Mar. 17th, 2003 01:49 pmI couldn't find the conference call number at home this morning, so I ran out of the house at 6:45 and headed off to work. After I found the number, and didn't get into the call, I discovered that it's a holiday in India and they're all off.
Now I'm trying to stay awake. For whatever reason, I woke up around 2:00 a.m. I listened to the radio until around 4:00, fooled around on the computer until 4:30 sending out some crabby e-mails, flipped the TV on and off, and then pretended to sleep between 4:45 and 5:45.
I did run out to buy lunch and stopped at Targetto for cough drops and diet coke. (It's on sale for 24/$4.00 this week.)
I made it through the first episode of the new Dune seriese on Sci-Fi. Chani's dead, the twins are born, and Paul either got whapped by a worm or he's wandering blind in the desert having just missed getting whapped by a worm.
Although I've reread Dune quite a few times, I don't think I ever reread the books after Dune. Dune stood up better the first time I read it, and subsequently I started to think a bit of the scaffolding was showing, although probably not quite as bad as some of the matte shots in the series. Susan Sarandon does seem to be having fun, and some of the rest of the cast is pretty easy on the eyes. The channel is guilty of overkill with their constant trailers though.
