So much for mowing the front yard. Pouring outside. I really should go rescue the papers.

MNSTF meeting at Dean and Laura's. Then there's an open house of uhm, err, paintings and etchings. It's always an odd subset of the leather crowd that goes, if the TC can be said to have a leather crowd. They wear leather and denim, they look leather, but they just ain't like you or me. Their hair seems to have a salon touch, and you know that twenty years ago the only leather they wore were Gucci loafers. Hmm, doubt if Drewan's up yet.

Minicon meeting tomorrow.

Stuck New York Times feeds onto three pages: Movies, Computers (well science leads), and Food. Should do some fancy side-bar stuff, but it's there for now. Background color sucks on the food feed. I'm sure that and a telephone credit card will get me a phone call in most major American cities. Speaking of the New York Times, I still ain't rescued it from the porch. Speaking of which, I received an e-mail from my web host saying they were changing the IP address. Grump, I think. But I've been trying to avoid using the old IP address -- not saying I have -- just saying I've been trying to avoid using it.

Waited too long. NY Times soaked. Sigh. 10 minutes in microwave, it was steaming news on the table.

Big obit: "Alan Lomax, the legendary collector of folk music who was the first to record towering figures like Leadbelly, Muddy Waters and Woody Guthrie, died yesterday at a nursing home in Sarasota, Fla. He was 87." http://www.nytimes.com/2002/07/20/obituaries/20LOMA.html

And from the day before: "Seymour Solomon, who with his brother, Maynard, founded Vanguard Records in 1950 and turned it into the dominant label for American folk music, recording such artists as Joan Baez, Odetta, Buffy Sainte-Marie and Ian & Sylvia, died yesterday at his summer home in Lenox, Mass. He was 80 and lived in Manhattan." http://www.nytimes.com/2002/07/19/obituaries/19SOLO.html

I still have a bunch of Vanguard LPs.

Must find garlic. Can't believe I'm out of garlic...

Bought olive oil, garlic and a baklava a Bill's Imported Foods. Asked them about the Marco Polo ajar, and they said it was coming. Shoulda got some fava beans. Shoulda got lemons too. Made some bean pate out of the lima beans and pushed the olive oil just a wee bit too far. Stuck it in the fridge to see if it works better when it cools down. Really tastes good, as the front of my shirt can testify. Also outta lemons, so I used a lime. Lottsa lemon thyme too -- it's trying to take over the back flower garden. May need a few more beans to bind it back together. I suspect my black beans would just plain ruin the color.

Where oh where is Laura Jean hiding?
